Client overview

Munnelly Group Limited is a well-established leader in logistics and support services for the UK construction industry. With a strong reputation for operational excellence, innovation and reliability, the company supports major construction projects across the country.

As part of a strategic growth initiative, and to accommodate its expanding workforce, Munnelly Group made the decision to relocate its headquarters to a custom-designed office space in a prime location.
This move was not just about acquiring more space – it was about creating a modern, future-ready working environment that would foster collaboration, support hybrid working models and integrate cutting-edge technology into every aspect of the business. The new office was designed from the ground up to reflect the company’s values, culture and ambitions for the future.

Project scope

The relocation project was a comprehensive digital transformation initiative. Munnelly Group engaged our team to design, implement and deliver a complete IT infrastructure overhaul that would support their operational needs both now and in the future. The scope of the project included:

  • installation of structured Cat 6A cabling throughout the premises
  • design and build of a secure, resilient comms room
  • deployment of a high-performance Wi-Fi 6 wireless network
  • installation of diversely routed internet connections for redundancy and uptime
  • configuration of enterprise-grade firewalls to secure the network
  • setup of a centralised multi-function print station
  • design and installation of three fully equipped video conferencing suites

This end-to-end solution was designed to ensure seamless connectivity, robust security and a scalable foundation for future growth.

Challenges

Every project of this scale presents unique challenges, and for Munnelly Group, three stood out.

1. Integration with custom office design
The new office was architecturally bespoke, with a strong emphasis on aesthetics, open-plan collaboration spaces and modern design elements. The infrastructure had to seamlessly integrate into this environment without compromising the visual appeal or functionality of the space. This required close coordination with architects, interior designers and construction teams to ensure that cabling, access points and hardware installations were discreet, efficient and aligned with the overall design vision.

2. Zero downtime requirement
Munnelly Group operates in a fast-paced industry where downtime can have significant operational and financial consequences. The relocation had to be executed with zero disruption to business operations. This meant meticulous planning, phased implementation and rigorous testing to ensure that all systems were fully operational from day one.

3. Future-proofing
The infrastructure needed to be scalable and adaptable to support future growth, hybrid working models and evolving cybersecurity threats. This required a forward-thinking approach to network design, hardware selection and system integration – ensuring the solutions implemented today would remain relevant and effective for years to come.

Our solution

1. Structured cabling (Cat 6A)
We began by installing a high-performance Cat 6A structured cabling system throughout the new office. This formed the backbone of the entire IT infrastructure, enabling high-speed data transmission and supporting a wide range of connected devices.
Key deliverables included:
• installation of over 50 data points, each terminated and tested to support 10Gbps Ethernet
• use of shielded twisted pair (STP) cabling to minimise electromagnetic interference and ensure signal integrity
• strategic placement of floor boxes and wall outlets to support flexible desk layouts, meeting rooms, and collaborative spaces
• comprehensive documentation and labelling of all cabling infrastructure for ease of maintenance and future expansion
This robust cabling system ensures that Munnelly Group’s network can handle high-bandwidth applications, video conferencing and future technology upgrades with ease.

2. Comms room design and build
A secure and efficient comms room was designed and constructed to serve as the central hub for all IT and telecom systems. Built to Tier 2 standards, the comms room was engineered for reliability, security and ease of management.
Key features included:
• precision cooling systems to maintain optimal operating temperatures for network equipment
• power feeds with UPS backup and surge protection to ensure business continuity during power fluctuations
• 21U rack enclosures with structured cable management for organised and scalable equipment housing
• access control systems to restrict physical access
This facility provides a secure, resilient environment for critical infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted service and simplified maintenance.

3. Wi-Fi 6 wireless network
To support a mobile, collaborative and high-density working environment, we deployed a fully managed Wi-Fi 6 solution. This next-generation wireless technology offers faster speeds, lower latency and improved performance in crowded environments.
Our implementation included:
• deployment of enterprise-grade access points strategically placed for optimal coverage and minimal interference
• support for high-density usage, enabling seamless connectivity for staff, guests and IoT devices
• WPA3 encryption and 802.1X authentication for secure access control
• segmented guest network with bandwidth management
• cloud-based controller for centralised monitoring, analytics and remote troubleshooting
The result is a fast, secure and seamless wireless experience that supports flexible working and enhances productivity.

4. Diversely routed internet connections
To ensure maximum uptime and business continuity, we provisioned:
• a primary leased line with guaranteed SLA, static IP addressing and high-speed bandwidth
• a secondary broadband line from a different ISP, routed through a separate building entry point to ensure physical path diversity
• dual WAN routers configured for automatic failover and load balancing
• firewall-integrated monitoring for real-time visibility into link status and performance
This setup provides true redundancy, minimising the risk of downtime due to ISP outages or infrastructure failures.

5. Enterprise-grade firewalls
Security was a top priority for Munnelly Group. We deployed next-generation firewalls to protect the network perimeter and enforce internal security policies.
Key capabilities included:
• deep packet inspection (DPI) and intrusion prevention systems (IPS) to detect and block malicious traffic
• application-aware traffic control to prioritise critical services and manage bandwidth
• VPN gateway to enable secure remote access for hybrid and field-based staff
• network segmentation to isolate guest, staff and server traffic, reducing the risk of lateral movement in the event of a breach
• real-time threat intelligence and automated firmware updates to stay ahead of emerging threats
This comprehensive security framework ensures that Munnelly Group’s digital assets are protected against both internal and external threats

6. Multifunction print station
To streamline document workflows and reduce operational overhead, we installed a centralised multifunction print and scan solution.
Features included:
• secure print release supporting the use of ID cards or PIN codes to prevent unauthorised access to sensitive documents
• scan-to-email, scan-to-cloud and scan-to-network-folder functionality for efficient document distribution
• mobile printing support for BYOD users and remote staff
• usage tracking and reporting to monitor print volumes and control costs
• integration with document management systems to support digital workflows and reduce paper usage
This solution improved document security, reduced waste, and enhanced user convenience across the organisation.

7. Video conferencing suites
Recognising the importance of hybrid collaboration, we designed and installed three fully equipped video conferencing suites, each tailored to specific use cases.
• Executive boardroom:
• 85” 4K display
• AI camera with auto-framing
• Directional microphones
• Integrated AV control panel
• Microsoft Teams Integrated
• Room 2:
• 75” 4k Screen
• Interactive touchscreen display
• Wide-angle camera and beamforming microphones
• Wireless content sharing and digital whiteboarding
• Acoustic treatment for sound clarity
• Room 3:
• 75” 4k Screen
• One-touch join for external meetings
• Branding-friendly backdrop and camera framing
• Integrated room booking and occupancy sensors

These suites enable high-quality, professional communication with remote teams, clients, and partners – enhancing collaboration and reducing travel costs.
