Q. What is your favourite part about your role?
A. My favourite part of my job is helping new starters settle in. I make sure their equipment and login details are ready before they arrive so their first day goes smoothly. I enjoy being the first point of contact and helping them feel welcome, supported, and part of the team from day one. For me, it’s about making sure people feel comfortable and know they’ll always get the help they need at Munnelly Group.
Q. How did you get into this industry?
A. I joined through an apprenticeship, which I’m still currently completing. Before this, I studied IT in college and later went on to study Animation at university. The apprenticeship route was a great way to put what I’d learned into practice, gain hands-on experience, and build the foundations for a career in tech.
Q. Did you always want to go into this industry, or even this role? If not, what was your childhood dream?
A. I’ve always had an interest in technology and curiosity about how new tech works and what it can do for us. Originally, I wanted to work on the creative side of the tech industry, but it was difficult to break into straight away. Taking on a support role gave me the chance to learn how the industry works from the inside, develop transferable skills, and figure out which areas I enjoy most.
Q. What is the most challenging aspect of your role?
A. The most challenging aspect of my role is problem-solving under pressure. Unexpected issues can arise at any time, and in those moments it’s important to stay calm, think logically, and resolve them quickly so the team can keep moving forward. While it can be tough, I actually enjoy the challenge because it pushes me to continuously learn and strengthen my technical skills. There’s a big difference between knowing something in theory and applying it in practice, and I gain new insights every day in this role.
Q. What are your career goals/priorities?
A. My career goal is to eventually move into the creative side of the tech industry, where I can combine my technical knowledge with my passion for design and innovation. For now, my priority is building strong foundations through this apprenticeship, gaining as much experience as possible, and developing the skills that will help me transition into a more creative role in the future.
Q. How long have you been in this industry now?
A. I’ve now been in the tech industry for about a year, since starting my role at Weston Analytics. This is my first official role in the sector, and it’s been an exciting introduction — full of learning opportunities and new challenges.
Q. Did your previous role influence your skills or behaviours towards this one?
A. A very current trend among Fatigue360 clients is the increasing demand for rostered staff to be able to capture additional job data while on site.
Q. How do you envision Weston Analytics evolving over the next few years, and what role will business development play in that growth?
A. I see us growing substantially by expanding into new markets such as utilities by leveraging the expertise and solutions developed in the highly competitive construction sector. And by using a BDM approach that focuses on identifying, pursuing and capturing new opportunities to broaden our client base and deliver sustained growth.
Q. What advice would you give to someone starting a similar career/ role?
A. One piece of advice I’d give is to really consider doing an apprenticeship. I started my career through one, and it gave me the chance to gain hands-on experience while learning from people already in the industry. It’s a great way to build practical skills, grow your confidence, and make connections early on. I’d highly recommend it to anyone starting out.
